We had a wonderful time celebrating Australia Day on Jan. 26/12.
We all had great fun making Lamingtons, a favorite Australian desert.
Talking about the animals that live in Australia and singing Australian songs.
Thank you to Mrs. Meredith  for sharing stories and pictures of her life in Australia.
Here is a picture of the South Australian State flag.  We put it up in room 3.

Greetings from Adelaide

Dear Room Three,
I am writing you from my new home in Adelaide Australia. Last week me and Evan went with Mrs. Meredith's daughter Isabella to Cleland Wildlife Park. We saw the cute koala in the picture. His name is Rusty. He loves to eat leaves.  We also met many cute kangaroo's and I got to feed and pet them. They are really friendly and soft. The weather is very nice and warm here as it is summer time. Is there lots of snow in Toronto? I heard that you have a Chinese food restaurant in the classroom, I wish I could come try some of your food. I went to my new Kindergarten to visit today and met Helen who is the other teacher. She was so nice and showed me around. They have a vegetable garden and they are growing pumpkins. How are all the plants in the class? I really miss you all and look forward to hearing all about the fun things you are doing. I will send you more pictures soon.
Love,
Ms. Leventhal

This week in Kindergarten

We were interested in learning about Koala's.

Aurora had an idea to create snow globes, we made them out of water bottles, and put beads, sparkles and water inside.

We made our own Goop and Slime this week, the recipe is below.

We made the home centre into a restaurant. The children made a list of all the things we would need and made them all themselves. Here are some menus they made.

We spent the week watching our egg hatch. Children predicted what would would happen.

We put made water in an ice tray in the freezer and added purple food colouring the next day we disovered that it had turned to ice. We put the coloured ice cubes into the water table and some children predicted that the water would turn purple.

We have a Kindergarten Jewelry Shop. We are building our fine motor skills while also having lots of fun and being creative.

Today we made a den for a bear to hibernate in for the winter. We used natural materials such as; sticks, leaves, pine cones, acorns, corn and we made our own bears. We hope they will  be very happy here in the winter.

Question Box

The students in room three love to ask questions and inquiry about the world. We wanted to make sure everyone gets a chance to ask their questions so we made a question box. Each morning we read the questions as a class and spend time during activity time using the computer to do research and find our answers. Take a look at some of the great questions children are asking.

We are getting prepared for winter and learning how to dress for the weather. Below we have cut pictures and practiced putting them in order.
Cut out pictures at home and paste onto a strip of paper, hang the paper in the area where your child gets ready, this will help them with the sequence of putting on winter clothes.

Here is our November weather graph.
