My Art

One of my interests is painting and I try to incorporate this in my teaching as often as possible.  I believe that creative expression of all kinds from music, drama, dance and visual art is such an important part of early childhood education.

Young children love to explore using a variety of artistic mediums. Drawing, painting are just some of the first forms that young children use as a way to communicate. Art tells their story. What may just appear as some lines or scribbles on a page is really the young child communicating with the world their ideas, dreams, and interests. Young children's art can be so powerful, and is also a foundation for early literacy development. As children tell you about their art, they are building their oral language skills. As they explore different mediums they build their fine motor skills, they learn to problem solve and use a variety of tools.  As an early childhood educator I always strive to value and engage children in creative expression and therefore would like to share some of my own pieces. The first two I have created while here in Australia.
