The children found a large map and wanted to learn about other countries. We started by talking about where we are from or where our families are from. We marked these locations on the map with a sticker. We created flags of many countries. The children have enjoyed creating flags and going on parades with them in the classroom. We have been reading books about countries around the world and watching videos to learn more. This week we watched a video about pyramids in Egypt, we went on a Safari in Tanzania and we saw how kites are built in China.

Our flag making table.

We went outside on a nature walk to observe the seasons changing and noticed the trees in our school yard have lost most of their leaves and some have a few left. We sketched what we saw in our inquiry lab books. We noticed many birds nests in the trees and will be making bird houses out of recycled materials this week. On our walk we collected a variety of natural materials such as sticks, pine cones, wood chips, leaves and rocks. We practised our sorting skills by putting the materials into piles. We will be using them this week to create art.

This week the Senior Kindergarten students read the book " Sally's Pizza Shop". They did a great job retelling the story in sequence.

Take a look at our pumpkin seeds they are really growing.
